Question about DVD media
I have a NEC 18X DVD±R DVD Burner which you can see here. I'm new to DVD drives and need help figuring out what media to use. It's my understanding that this is a double layer DVD drive, which if I understand correctly allows me to double up on the amount of data it can hold. Is that correct? If so, than I could buy DVD media that supports double layer and burn up to around 8GB of data. Is that right? I'm also wondering about which type of DVD media to use. By that I mean DVD-R or DVD+R. Which is best, or more widely supported by DVD players in use on TV's or portable DVD players, as well as with DVD drives that are used on PC's?

DVD-R are the most popular, you'll want DVD-R DL discs to be able to burn 8gb.
