Science or Magic
Here's the video......
http://www.glumbert.com/media/candlepower
Now this video is on many sites and some actually claim to have been able to replicate the "effect" in their comments. Most are saying hoax or magic trick....pointing to hand movements under the table, etc....
Even flame wars starting on whether it is real or fake....
To me.....I simply don't see a completed circuit regardless of whether flame or wax can generate a charge. No circuit...no flow of electrons....no light. I say it's a clever trick. How it's done is another story, but my guess is that there is metal inserted inside each of candles (he never shows you the bottom)....and the off color plank of "wood" is actually painted metal. This completes the circuit and the power source is underneath the table.
How about you folks? Anyone think it is for real? If you think trick....what's your theory?
Anybody want to try it themselves and report back?

Notice how one of his hands is hidden beneath the table, between his legs every time the 'lectricity starts and stops flowing. There's obviously some sort of on/off switch there. The table wouldn't have to be metal necessarily there are substances that can be applied to it to conduct electricity.... such as the special lubricant one would apply to the inside of an electronic potentiometer to keep it clean and moving smoothly.

Hoax
First watch close.
When the nails are magnetized the camera changes view.
Thats when the wiring is connected from inside the hollow candles laid on the table so that you cant see them after the view changes.
When he lights the candles notice how he chnges hands and his left hand goes under the table to flick the switch.
When he blows the candles out his left hand goes under the table again to flick the switch.
For the motor he switchs hands and uses the right hand to flick the switch.
This is a trick however electricity could be generated with a candle.
A photovoltaic collector would make current with the light from the flame.
A bimetalic strip connected to peizo crystals would make curent from the heat from the flame.
Yea, I know, I'm full of useless information.

Candle cast over a metal base.
Table has small holes through it and trace repair fluid used on the table top connecting to the batteries and switch mounted under the table.

This video debunks the original.....
But guess what? Some people insist that the debunking video is the fake (or wrongly performed) and the original is real and correctly done.
God....I love the internet.
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/420324...ake_you_judge/
Charges leveled at the debunker include he messed with the meter, his candles were too close, his flame was too small, he didn't rub the nails with the magnet properly......

BAck in my Radio Tech Days we used to carry a Fluro Tube with us (depending on the site 1 ft to 4ft).. in some sites we would wave the tube in the direction of the transmitt aerial and we had light.. some sites we just had to carry the tube and we had light all the time..
Hell for fun .. I had a 40cm fluro taped to a 2way aerial on my VAn.. so at night when I transmitted the fluro lit up.. interesting talking point
The amount of power required to start the motor would be greater than any simple source like this could deliver. and supply lag isnt there the lamp is instant so is the motor stsrt
so what's to say that there isn't a radio transmitter off camera in the first vid?
