Looking for a certain website
I'm looking for a certain website whose URL I forgot and I cannot find it in my favs (in which I think I put it, but apparently, not).
The guy is quite famous in cyber/comp security circles. He haunts MS for the least misdeed in this field.
The one certain thing that I remember is three initials with G the first and maybe an R also in there (maybe GRB, or GRD...). I also seem to remember a 'doctor' in the designation or the name.
The website deals w security and has some wonderful doodads and a comp sec scan.
It has some nice patches for fixing some sec holes.
Thanks for the help.

THANK YOU crunchie!!! :D
Did I tell you lately that I love you? (this line is from a well known country song, hehehe) Guess not!
Seriously, I was looking for the guy's site for a long time and for the life of me I couldn't find it, though I could swear I faved it.
The "SpinRite" should be somthing everyone should consider buying. Not a modest price but not a catastrophy either.
The "Shoot the Messenger" and the UPnP free stuff are just great. Also all the other free scans.
Thank you again, man!

He gets carried away with his own importance.
I gave up on him years ago.

Well, the man knows what he's talking about and he knows what to do and he does it w a flair and great ability.
That he has an inflated ego is not something that should impede anyone from adopting his means for a better security. I'm not gonna marry him, right?
The art of personal attacks is very developed now in all fields, so no surprises here.
I'm sure that he has his side of the story and the fact is that he's good at what he's doing.
To quote from 'unmasking': "A self-proclaimed guru has no credentials".
Now this is pure bull.
First off, incorrect by definition. He may have credentials but unrecognized by his peers. This is not to say that he's not good, it only says that his peers don't accept him b/c of his notions and ex's are plenty all thru the ages.
Secondly, one may have not been recognized b/c of the shortsightedness of others, as in so many cases thru the ages, too.
His wares are short, efficient, and do a great job, this no one negates. They all point fingers at him b/c of his ego, b/c of his apparent bragging, etc., unsubstantial things, really, that verge on personal attacks.
I'm satisfied w what he's offering and you just have to go to his newsgrs to see the multitudes that apparently agree w him, at least in general. So there's a fact of being accepted and w this you cannot argue.
I like MS wares and Windows more than any other means, but I'm not a blind follower, also. It has its flaws as well as its good sides and I use them all to my best advantage w all the fixes and patches and updates, including Steve's.
Read my "Phone question" post and you'll see that I defend MS against all the others who put on the market wares that do essentially the same as the built-in ones in Win/MS so you're duped into buying unnecessarily unnecessary things, basically.
I don't use Adware, frex, I use Win Defender b/c of a certain policy I apply, that is having products from the same Co. in the name of suitability, compatibility, etc.
W all that Steve says, my comp is absolutely, repeat, absolutely, stealth, silent, to his intruding attempts and this w the common means: NAV, Win Defender and something that I don't know if MS has: Ad Muncher, a beauty of ware against pop-ups of all kinds.
And in spite of what he says I'm not gonna change from NAV and Windows for the basics.
