How do I use everest 2.20 to find out what hardware is?

I remember someone showing me how to go into the device manager to get info about something that is an unknown device then compare that info somewhere in everest to see what the device is. Anyone do that before? What would I need to look for?

When you go into Device Manager and expand the tree for any component, the appearance in Everest is very similar. So there is really nothing difficult here, the main difference is that Everest will give you very detailed information in a window for each component as you expand the tree, the details do not appear in Device Manager. If you cannot find a vendor name in Everest or Device Manager you should be able to see the vendor ID in Everest. With that number go here:
    http://www.pcidatabase.com/vendors.php?sort=name
If you plug in the 4 digit vendor ID number the vendor name will be found in the window. Conversely you can plug the vendor name in the appropriate window and it will return the vendor ID. Or you can scroll down the list of either numbers or alphabetical vendor names and find a match.
    Hope this answers your questions.

Hmm, well what I'm wondering is lets say you see a device in the device manager that says it's unknown. Is there any way to get some info from that unkown device that would allow you to easily look up what it is in everest?
