keyboard that doesn't suck?

I can't seem to find a keyboard that is just a keyboard...

no modifcations (office keys, big enter, different home keys)
no wireless
USB is fine, in fact a hub would be cool.

but every single keyboard I find has some sort of modification on it that would bug the crap out of me or it doesn't seem very quality.

I have an older MS keyboard from around 2001 that works perfectly. I broke a hinge off the back though, so I am looking for a replacement

Well you know you can just lay it flat without the stand ups.

I have never found a brand of keyboard better than Microsoft, and after my horrible experiences of Logitech I don't think I would even consider another brand. I do have to admit that finding a basic keyboard without any extra keys is quite a task these days though.

Byan--Have you been to K-Mart or Walmart? I assume you have been to the office supply stores.
I have not looked lately, but they still seem to be available.

I have had the same Microsoft keyboard for 5 or 6 years...real similar to this one but it has a few more blue buttons across the top...I took the wrist pad off..propped up the back some more to get a better angle....works for me..

Try Staples or OfficeMax, they seem to have some basic keyboards-MS stuff also. I agree with SuperSparks, stay away from Logitech- nothing but problems and not worth the price. You could maybe use an old Logitech to prop your old keyboard!

I do agree with you about all the crap keyboards come with. When I bought my HP Media PC last year, the keyboard looked like it could be plugged into a jet fighter and flown off with it!

Walked into a mom and pop computer store and they had the $10 M$ kb so I bought it. The $15 one did not look bad either.
Check out any PC recycling place close by is another option. Some of them also carry new stock also.

I'm using a Micro Innovations keyboard from Wal-mart. I think I payed about $15.00 for it. It's got the big "enter" key which I like, but no other frills. I also
stick with keyboards that connect via the ps/2 connector.

seeing as I can't find one like it...

and those saying to prop it up, thats what I have been doing.. it just gets annoying after a while.. I've been meaning to replace it for a LONG time..

Yes, I'm using an MS Natural Ergonomic 4000 on my Core 2 Duo rig. I love it, but they aren't to everybody's taste. It is something that you really do need to try before you buy.

SuperSparks--I also use the MS 4000. Like it and all the extra buttons. But that big space bar resists being depressed smoothly unless I hit it at specific angles. Do you have the same experience?

I use a PCStuff (RCA/Thomson) 104 key keyboard. It works very well. Besides the 104 keys, it has a row of function keys at the top: Back Forward Stop Refresh Search Favorites Web/Home (Sound Function keys) Mute Media My Computer Calculator and Sleep. I like it just fine. I bought it locally for less than $25. The only place I have seen them for sale on the Internet is through EBay.

"More natural wrist alignment"?? I've tried used those types of keyboards and I feel like I'm doing the Funky Chicken when I type; what with my elbows splayed out while assuming the "natural wrist alignment". I'm with you Byan...I've purchased many keyboards with all kinds of extra bells and whistles and almost always ended up turning those features off. But....I confess I still get suckered in with fancy keyboard doo-dads (hydraulic wrist rests, prismatic key labels, disco lights, built-in microphone and intercontinental intercom system, gaming keypad that makes explosion sounds when pressed....you know, dood-dads).

No I don't Jim. It sounds as if your one is sticking a little bit. It might be worth popping it off and seeing if you can free it up some.
