[Pro] Printer remains offline
We have a user located offsite. The user is on a Windows XP Pro machine, but does not have local admin rights (helps with security).
Usually this isn't a problem, but her printer went offline and now she doesn't have permissions to set it back to online.
Without providing her the password for a local admin account, is there a way for me to change the permissions for just printers?

I wonder if Remote Assistance would allow you to log in remotely as Admin and fix things? I'm noit 100% sure, I've never used it myaself.

well you know you can set the permissions on the actual printer itself. you can give her full control without giving her admin rights on the machine.

Unfortunately I can't give permissions on a printer without being there (unless I give her a local admin account credentials).
Last time I tried connecting to a remote site using the Remote Assistant, it didn't work. I think our net admin blocked something.

Well, what a day. I convinced the net admin to allow me to use Remote Assistance.
Spend a good 30 minutes trying everything I can think of, including reinstalling the printer.
I even had the person on the other end check the connections (a request I sent via email 3 times, plus I asked her the same thing several times).
Turns out the printer was offline because it wasn't connected.
What a joy.
