[Home] ? about email on desktop & laptop

I'm sooooooo confused. Sometimes, if I open Outlook Express on the laptop, the emails that appear there don't go into the program on the desktop and vice/versa. Sometimes they go into both, no matter when or which computer is used first. Sometimes, they go directly into the deleted file on one or the other or both. Something with my settings?

One more ?, please. Was checking the icons that are hidden in the toolbar. (That's the bar on the bottom, right?) Anyway, what is Quick Time? Also, Safely Remove Hardware is always running in the background. Do either of these need to be in startup and if not, how do I get them out? I knew how with 98SE but not XP.

You have the same email account on both desktop and laptop PC's. When you open the account the mail waiting on your ISP's mail server will come in. Occasionlly, the mail on the server may sit for a while and show up on both computers.

The systems tray is on the bottom right.(with the clock). QuickTime is an Apple multimedia player and doesn't need to be on the startup list, but the "remove hardware" icon is useful and can be left. You might need some third party software to stop Quicktime from starting. Here's a link to one such program:

Take a look inside Quicktime to see if you can disable the auto start first. If not, then you can go with a program that will do this for you with very little trouble.

There's a lot of stuff in my startup that I don't think needs to be there and it kinda gets to me cause I figure if it wasn't all running in the background, the computer would run faster but I don't wanna mess with it cause I know I'd screw something up.

Thanks for the explanation on the email. Was making me crazy cause I didn't understand it.
