WMP 11: Is the Auto-Rewind bug gone? And question about uninstall

What I find really annoying in WMP 10 is that the Auto-Rewind option is always enabled. There is no way to change this in Options. All videos, except, for some reason, .wmv or .asf formats, will auto-rewind to the first frame when they reach the end. I would like my home videos to stop a "The End", not to go back to the first frame of the movie.

Even changing registry keys doesn't change this behavior.

Could someone check if this has been fixed in WMP 11?

Also, can WMP 11 be properly uninstalled through Control Panel, or is it necessary to do a System Restore to go back to WMP 10?

BernardP--Cannot answer your first question, but WMP11 does appear in Control Panel|Add/Remove and clicking on Remove says it will "rollback" to the previous installed version.

    Thanks Welshjim.

At least, I will be more inclined to try WMP11 knowing I can properly uninstall it if I don't like it

If you use media player classic instead with the correct codecs installed it will merrily play all media files and its less of a resource hog.It also has the option to disable the rewind when done playing that you seek.

Yes, I also have Media Player Classic on my system, as well as VLC Media Player. MPC is especially great when it comes to adjusting for various aspect ratios

But MPC has another behavior I don't like ( OK, I admit I am picky ):

I am unable to have it keep a fixed window size, regardless of the quality/resolution of the video. I like to pick a screen location and size for the video player, and just keep it there and at constant size. WMP 10 allows me to do this, and would be perfect except for the forced Auto-Rewind.

I am just hoping someone would check if the forced Auto-Rewind is still present in WMP 11. I admit it's not the end of the world, but if this is solved, this would be a compellling reason to install WMP 11. If not, I will stay with WMP 10 for now.

    Thanks

    Possibly some help here
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx

If you right click on the WMP icon at the very top left of the WMP window, you are offered Help as well as Tools. A quick look did not produce anything on Rewind or Auto Rewind. But maybe you could look further.
