    Are you ready for IE7?

IE7 Is Coming This Month...Are you Ready?

The final release of IE7 is fast approaching … and I mean really fast … and will be delivered to customers via Automatic Updates a few weeks after it’s available for download. We want to ensure that you are ready and the information below will help get you there. For more details, see the following link.

I really wish MS would not force IE7 like this but I know it's a waste of time to complain. While IE6 may have security issues galore, forcing the upgrade of an internet browser via Windows Update is still, IMO, wrong. The last thing I need is to have to fix several PCs because a browser upgrade broke them.

I guess I'll need to educate myself on how to block the auto installation.

    Might want to checl out:

What if my organization is not going to be ready for IE7 in time?

Organizations that are using Automatic Updates in their environments can block the AU deployment of IE7. For more details check out the “Options for Blocking Automatic Delivery” section of our Automatic Delivery of Internet Explorer 7 article.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

The download page for the IE7 auto-install blocker is here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    Related info here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/upd...ouncement.mspx

I just ran the blocker script and it does install as outlined in the documents above. (Note that the script does not have a GUI interface. It must be ran from a command line.)
