[RESOLVED] [Pro] Unsigned Nvidia Driver
OK, this is the case...
My colleague here is trying to run a clean install of win xp.After logging in for the first time he installs the drivers for the nvidia fx5200 chipset.Drivers are found to be unsigned.(but who cares right?-wrong!)So he goes on and installs SP1.Reboot and then installs sp2.Reboot and system freezes during the xp loading screen.
He started over, this time with drivers downloaded from the nvidia site.
Anyway after 1 or 2 more formats, repairs chkdsk's etc he tried using a different video card.
Ta-Dah!!!
So the problem is with the drivers.1 solution is to swap video cards.Let's skip this for a while...
The other is formatting, install xp>sp1, download nvidia drivers from windows update and then sp2(we don't want to start over unless we know it works for sure!!!!)
I've searched about it but no solution found. Can anyone think of smth else?
Thanx in advance
Have a nice day

I think your Best solution is to Intergrate SP1 & SP2 with XP on a CDR..
Best to google it..Plenty of Instruction out there....

I don't remember the last time an Nvidia driver was unsigned The latest one is most definitely signed anyway:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.47.html
Here is how to slipstream SP2:
Creating a slipstreamed CD
Slipstreaming WinXP with SP2
Installing WinXP & SP2 with one CD

Please correct me if I am mistaken

You are indeed mistaken, there is no problem at all with getting SP2 to accept unsigned drivers. It is Vista that is going to rigorously enforce diver signing, perhaps that's what you were thinking of?

No reason to keep this open.
My friend just did it from scratch, unfortunately he didn't have the time to tell me what he did, I believe he tried the new drivers...
Thx

Tell your friend and anyone else you know to stay away from the FX5200. This may be an exaggeration but it seems that card has more problems/quirks than all others put together.
