[ME] Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Hi,
When I go into "Control Panel" "System" I have a nice big yellow mark by "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and it says I need to provide drivers for this. Is it a card or part of the mother board or what? How do I find the driver for this?
Thanks.

They should be on thwe WinMe CD.
In device manager choose the USB Controller device, select properties and then Reinstall drivers (or something to that effect).
Follow the prompts.

Thanks for the reply.
When I do that, it says the best driver is already installed but when I click "finish" is says the device is not working because the driver is not installed.
The driver is "c:\windows\INF\USB.INF".
Could this USB controller affect an Epson printer which has a USB connector?
I have a lot of USB controllers listed.

Instead of letting it search for drivers pick the other option that is Choose from a list of compatible drivers (or something to that effect).
Then it should give you a list and you can pick one and it should reinstall the drivers or ask for the CD or ask for a location.

That's the only driver that it offers. One part I missed is maybe I don't have this on my computer. I could delete it and see if it shows up when I start the computer again.

That was going to be my next suggestion.
Remove it in device manager and let it get redetected.

So I deleted the device and restarted the computer. Sure enough it detected an "Unknown USB controler" and said it was installing the driver for it. When I went into "system" "devices" "properties" there was a red X there this time. And there was a box that said "Enable device" so I did that and it said I needed to restart the computer. I did that and went into "system" "devices". There was the yellow mark again and the same thing I had before with the same driver from before. My concern is that something is affecting the printer and I was wondering if this was it. Everything else works.

You need to install the motherboard chipset drivers. If you aren't sure of the make and model of the mobo, then this nice utility will tell you. Let us know and we'll help you find the drivers.

The box says MSI 865PE Neo-3
Everest says 06/14/2005-Springdale-PE-6A79AM4ZC-00
I have installed the chipset drivers that came with the M.B.

The latest drivers for that board are here, what you want is the second one down under the Drivers section - "Intel USB 2.0 drivers":

Thanks for the reply.
I downloaded the file to a floppy and opened it. There were six files. I read the read me file and it said to run setup.exe. I tried all six and could not find a setup.exe. What am I missing?

Hi :
I think you may go to device manager & then choose to update the driver, specify the location to the folder of the six files you saved. It should be able to find what it needs.

Sorry I've been gone for awhile.
That didn't work. It specified to open the setup file.
