    DVD video burning

I want to know if there is a free solution to burn my collection of homemade movies and fansubs which are typically mpeg, avi, mkg to a dvd disc directly without having to make an ISO or special format which you have to buy a plugin if you wanna burn something else...(thanks a lot Nero OEM! )

To burn them in order to playback on a home DVD Player? I've had success with Ulead DVD Movie Factory, i got it free with my TV Card, and decided to mess around with it, it allows input from various formats, allows you to add menus (either custom, or from templates) and then add it all together to end up with a professional looking DVD....it also has built-in support for upcoming HD-DVD burning.

Unfortunately no, there is a limited trial which lets you add files and convert them, but i think the menu option is missing, and a couple of additional features are disables too, i think it's about $40 in the US.

I have had the same issue. I am using windows movie maker and that seems to work. However it is very LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLong. 1 hour of movie might take you about 1-1.5 hr. You can also customize the front page.

There are numerous tools to do what you want and a lot of them are free. One place I frequent quite often and use the tools available there is videohelp.com found in the link below:

I just found this software which converts avi's and mpegs to dvd. Tested it and it works great. www.mpgdvd.com/avone_pro/help001.htm
