    Abit NV8 mobo fan?

    I can't stand it any longer...I have to know....what is the little fan that is mounted on this mobo cooling???

    To be even more specific it is cooling the chipset "Northbridge" chip, which is what handles data transfer between the various buses for the most part. There is also a "Southbridge" chip which mainly handles I/O, but that one doesn't get hot enough to require any form of active cooling.

    Before I built this new system, I did a lot of reading and read about the 'northbridge','southbridge' chipsets but I never actually read where there was a cooling fan involved...and I didn't put the two things together....now I know....thanks.
