xp [Pro] 64
I have never installed xp pro 64 on a machine and was wondering if it would be as backwards compatible as xp pro? It would be going on a 939 3500 amd 64
New build but wanting to get some programs from old pc in as such older version of quick Books

Don't install XP 64bit version. Not all hardware or software will work and only a few antivirus run under this system. Avast was the only one I found that worked. And you don't need 64bit o/s for a 64bit AMD either. And older programs definitely won't run on the 64bit.

Thanks Photo Lady Vista will probably be on machine in future if not compatiable may just stick with 98 which is what customer is running now on a133 mhz machine with 32 mb ram HIs old printer died so he bought a HP 5610 so needs more pc to run the new all in one

Any 32-bit app shopuld run perfectly fine in XP x64 - so far I haven't found any that won't work, but 16-bit apps are completely out of the question. Win x64 is a nice OS, but drivers can be hard to find, and as Photolady says, AV programs are in very short supply.
