    Resolved [RESOLVED] Can't send Hotmail

    Hi
I'm running XP home with SP2 and since June 26th I have not been able to send Hotmail.

I tried to run the sfc /scannow now but It did not like my XP SP1 update disk.

I removed SP2 and tried again but it still does not like my XP SP! disk.

Anyone have any thoughts about how I can fix this?

    I can receive Hotmail fine.

Edit: I have beeen receiving an error box that says"An unknown error has occurred. Account: "hotmail", Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail.asp". Protocol: HTTPMail. Port:0.Secure(SSL): No. Socket Error. 1209. Error Number: 0X80004005

Edit: I tried to use F8 and chose "last known working" and got this message
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt.

Windows root>\system32\hal.dll please reinstall a copy of the above file.

Does Hotmail still use HTTP to send? I thought that was just to receive.
Also, new accounts don't support access through OE without $. Can you reconfigure the account setup?

I don't know anything about HTTP. I have been using Hotmail since 1998 and have never paid a dime. I tried to reconfigure the account and ended up with two accounts. I would like to get rid of the second account as well.

Well I found out the HTTP is for incoming mail. I also found out that to fix the outbox you close Otlook Express and then find the file "outbox.dbx" then you delete it and you get a brand new one when you reopen Outlook Express. You also lose all messages that were in the file.
