Upgrade used 40 gig
I did a vista upgrade over xp home. It took 5 goes to get it installed, but finaly it is in and going well.
Before the upgrade the 120 gig hd read 8 gig used.
After the upgrade it reads 46 gig used.
Anyone have any idea why? It must be a false reading.

You say it took 5 goes to get it installed ?
Hopefully you haven't got 4 failed installs cluttering up you HD somewhere in unused folders.

A typical fresh install of Vista takes approx 20gigs....Odds are you have several Windows.000 type folders...Since you have pleanty of free space left, I'd leave as is till you format again..
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.
