turning toshiba 2065CDS in to a silentish server

I have an old 366mhz laptop that I have no use for anymore, so I am going to turn it into a server/internet radio reciever

the problem with this is that the fan on the back is loud..., and I planning on having the thing in my room so I can listen to the radio all night.

I opened up the thing, and it seems the fan is directly behind the heatsink for the CPU. I was thinking about getting a new heatsink for the CPU, but I am sure there is nothing designed just for this purpose...

I'd like to also replace that damned fan that is so loud with something..., less loud.. Cause I realise there is no way to have the thing without a fan unless I leave the thing open. But I looked at the thing, I don't think I can get another fan with that connector.. so I'd have to strip the wires, ect.

so, any ideas?

Newer laptops have fan speed controls perhaps this one has a faulty temperature sensor.
You could possibly source a replacement fan as it may have become inbalanced over the years causing more background noise.One suggestion may be to get one of those laptop cooling mats that have the fans installed as this may help it stay cooler.

anyways, it does have a sensor.. It stays off for about 10 minutes and then it stays on for the rest of the usage

ok, well, I already have the thing ripped apart.., though it tells me how to do it further.. I am not sure I want to

unless, I were to put it into a new case.. or something

I am really not looking for options to do this to specifications, It would be much cheaper and fun to just stick some fan that shouldn't go there and a heatsink that shouldn't go there..

I'd definately have to cut out some plastic and stuff, so I am not sure it would fit or not. There are some capacitors in the way

or maybe a VGA silencer.. hmmm
