Spy Quake - Please Help!!

I don't have a clue what to do with a HIJACK THIS log file, can someone please help?

I have a functioning computer and remote access to the infected machine via logmein.com, which is by the way, an excellent service..

EDIT: I have made some progress, I have the home page back however, this is the new HJT log file below.

The problem now is that SpyBot is constantly popping up that little box telling me that I have something on my blacklist because I denied a change (duh).

I don't know how to get it to stop. Obviously something is still wrong.

Any ideas?

I don't see any evidence of spyquake. Something must of told you it was there. So lets check to be sure.

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

Please post that log.

I just woke up, it took till 5:30am to get the computer usable then I went to bed.

Please note that besides the constant SpyBot alert, there is another major symptom: WHen my brother is at his computer, he cannot print. It says there is no default printer, however, when I am on LogMeIn.com and using the Remote Control function, I can open a document on his screen and select FILE-PRINT, and print what he cannot.

As far as your brothers computer he should probably have Hjt log checked also. Have him start his own thread here. Don't post his login this thread.

I would not network with his computer ( using Logme in ) untill yours is all clean. Passing infections around could be easier than you think .


Now on with cleaning yours.

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Click Edit, click Select All, press the DELETE key, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to send all the items to the Recycle Bin.

Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\(EVERY LISTED USER)\Local Settings\Temp
Click Edit, click Select All, press the DELETE key, and then click Yes to confirm that you want to send all the items to the Recycle Bin.

Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:

• Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
• Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
• On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
• In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
• On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
• Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
• Click OK.

Next Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Display. Click on the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button. Click on the Web tab. Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button. Click Ok then Apply and Ok.

Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter.
Answer Yes to the question "Restore Trusted Zone ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Have not read your whole post but want you to know all the logs I have posted are his. My computer is uninfected, I have remote access to/remote control of his computer and can operate it as if I am sitting in front of it. All the information posted is his...

I'm not worried about my computer getting infected through logmein, it's html based remote control. Should I be? I'm not transfering files back and forth. It's so convenient to have his computer in one instance if IE, and this page in another...

Also, I want to mention a couple things. This all started when there was a power outage and he restarted the computer. It was fine until that happened. XP had ran for at least a couple weeks without a restart. The hijacked page was safetyuptodate or something like that, but Norton said SpyQuake.

LAST NIGHT:

Before I went to bed, Norton came back clean on a full system scan.
I got rid of "SmitFraud-C" in SpyBot's "Fix Selected Problems" by running it in Safe Mode.

Please disable SpybotSD TeaTimer, as it may hinder the removal of the infection. You can enable it after you're clean.
To disable SpybotSD TeaTimer:
Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.
Click on System Startup icon.
Uncheck Teatimer box.
Click Allow Change box.

I thought about this SpyBot thing all day. I uninstalled and reinstalled SpyBot, and everything seems to be functioning normally.

I am going to repost the HJT log, Ewido log, --rerun SpyBot, Adaware, Ewido, & Norton and post back.
