    Internet Options Entry?

Hello Everyone: I am on my friends windowsME pc. I had to reinstall the OS and upgraded the aol.
Now in the Internet options under Connections, there is AOL and we are trying to figure out what this second entry is in there, it's called "The Internet 2". Does anyone know what this is?
I removed it but it keeps reappearing. Thanks, Tom

I would think it's something created by AOL. Unfortunately, there aren't many vDr Doctors with recent experience on AOL. But, I wouldn't worry about it, it won't do any harm just sitting there.

    Professor U:

I was finally able to delete it by right clicking on it in the Dial up Networking screen.
Now that I think about it, I think I may have put that there accidentally after reinstalling the os, a Dial up Networking wizard screen came up and asked how do I want to connect to the internet and I mistakenly filled it out, I really dont understand that screen when it comes up, you think you are filling it out and it would connect you to the internet, but It don't you still have to install AOL or whatever ISP you have?
Anyway its gone and maybe i will learn exaclty how that Connection wizard works someday? Thanks for you help, Tom

Yes, you might have created it accidentally. Deleting it should do no harm.

When you connect to a Dial-Up connection, all you need is a username and password and phone #. Windows can handle that. If you want all the extra 'features' then you need to use the AOL program.

Also check your internet settings. My pc ME was working as a dial up even after going broadband. To put it right I used internet help ]Speedguide] and immediately all was well unfortunately it took me while to realise something was wrong I thought it was the line.

Well, I guess I really need to know is, after reinstalling the OS, and your are asked (and I forget exactly what I was asked), but I think it brought up this connection wizard?
Should I at this point close out of the reinstalling and just put the AOl disk in the pc and restart? Will that still set up my dial up connections without using that connection wizard that pops up? This is the part that always confuses me after a reinstall!!

Cancel out the internet connection wizard. Then insert the AOL disk and install that software.

The "Internet 2" would have needed pertinent information to work. If you just ramdomly filed in the blanks, that's why it didn't connect, it wasn't attached, so to speak, to any ISP.
