system beeps
its finally happened. my computer has died. last night it was working fine but now when i power it up my monitor stays blank and my computer beeps at me. im assumini this is its death cry :-( it makes 2 very quick beeps (possibly this is supposed to be 1 beep?) followed by 8 beeps in regular 0.25 second intervals. 15 seconds later i get a further 2 beeps followed by a very brief pause before a final beep. i have removed all dust from the inside me the machine and the fans are all spinning as they should. the computer doesnt turn itself off or anything and apart from the beeps and the lack of the monitor it appears as normal. i just cant use it. i thank anyone for taking the time to read this and will appreciate any help. thank you very much.

You should be able to look up the bep codes from this site to find out what they mean:
BIOS means Basic Input Output System. BIOS is actually firmware, the software that is programmed into a ROM (Read-Only Memory) chip built onto the motherboard of a computer. BIOS is what makes the system run an initial Power-On Self-Test of the computer, initialize circuits, load the boot program from the boot disk, and then handle low-level I/O to peripheral controllers such as keyboard and display.

Check your CMOS battery--it powers your BIOS Chip....They don't last forever
Remove it and buy a new one for $4.00 or so
