well i like cool OS's and i must say it looks very nice. after all what’s the point of having powerful computers if you don't use them? and in defence of M$ they have put far more effort into safety this time. If anything it gets in the way a bit as it is constantly asking you if you want to open up files etc. but the fact of the matter is that windows is constantly being attacked by thousands of hackers/people making spyware, malware and the job is endless. Malicious software will always be around in some sense or another.

Very true. Security is MS's number one priority in Vista, and I suspect it will be far more secure than Linux or OS X (whicdh have thus far had a very easy time because so much effort is put into exploiting Windows).

As for the "eye candy", I'd be very surprised if there won't be a Classic View option in the final release for those that don't care for it.

The reason Vista was delayed was for security reasons. I think this is the first OS where MS is taking security by default seriously (okay, first client-OS, since Server2003 was pretty good).

More than likely....it will be Micropuff's effort to placate those users who do not have the CPU and graphics muscle to effectively run the neato-keeno graphic features.
I still say that the better part of valor will be to wait for a few months after it comes out before buying it.....read up all the rantings and ravings of those people who waited in line all night to buy the first copies, only to find out it was not exactly all they expected.

(Bistro's cynicism is still alive and well....)

In the US you call chocolate bars candy thus Eye Candy = Candy = Chocolate Bar = Aero.
