    My .avi files/videos doesn't show.

The sound plays but not the video. I am trying Winamp and Win Med Player. Both will give sound but no video.
I can play it in another program called Nero Showtime that is on a friend's computer though. I burned them to DVD-RW media and they can't be viewed in either my CDRW drive or my DVD drive.

    Why is that?

Is .AVI dedicated to dvd or what?

I viewed the same file on my friend's computer and they play in Win Med Player and the Nero.

It's just when they are burnt that they do not show in my computer.

He has Win Med Player 9 and I have 10 if that makes the difference. But still can't get it to show in Winamp on mine.

Are you saying that if the file is on your hard drive it works fine but if you play the same file on a DVD it doesn't work?

are they burned as standard files or as a VCD?

you should try converting the file to some other format, such as Mpeg or WMV. I use Speed Video Converter. It works well for me and has a free trial.

The files are on someone else's computer. Let's call that PC 1.

I have burned them and put them on my computer and they do not show the video, only the audio. I have tried to view them in Winamp and Win Med Player. With my DVD software they do nothing at all.

The same CD with the files on them will play in PC 1 where they were created. PC 1's computer is a dvd burner.

On mine I have a CDRW and a DVD drive. Neither drive will show the video on mine.

What am I not getting on my computer that will not show the video, only the sound?

I have Win Med Player 10, PC 1 has 9.

Is it that I am using two different drives to view them on? A dvd burner as opposed to mine, cdrw and dvd?

I have tried both media types, CDRW and DVD-RW too.

It's probably a codec issue. They have the one needed to view the video and you don't.

You can get a good, free codec pack here..
