Can't send a file
I'm trying to send a file through my Yahoo mail or through Yahoo Messenger.
When he gets the file he can't open it because it's looking for my harddrive and the folder it was in.
What's that all about?

If this is an image file, some email programs have settings that can prevent them from opening. (Or from being sent, but that does not seem the case here.)
As liam858 has requested, tell us the type of file.
Also some files, such as .htm files generated by File|Save As from a webpage, require that a folder with the actual image files accompany them. If you send just the .htm file, it will not work. And the directory hierarchy relationship of the two files must be kept. If I remember correctly, that relationship is corrupted when the two files are sent in an email.
If I know I want to send a File|Save As file in an email, I choose .mht "web archive" in the Save as Type line.

It was a "capture" file from my video camera to my golf swing software. There is a folder envolved so I'll see if I need the whole folder to view video file.

It was an "avi" file in OnePlayer. I did upload it to my website and then was able to "Save as" and download it to my Desktop so....I'm hoping my friend will be able to do the same.

Wolfe70--Hope it was successful.
If not, two things come to mind. .avi files might be too large to send by regular email. Many email providers have 1 or 2 MB caps on attachments.
In Outlook Express, on the Tools|Options|Security tab there is a box "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could contain a virus". If checked, on your friend's PC, that would block the opening of a file deemed dangerous. I cannot remember whether .avi files are in that category.
