spyware causing BSOD when using adaware
Hi,
I noticed a bunch of spyware plaguing my computer and decided to run ad-aware. It starts normally. When I choose full system scan, it runs for about a minute and then a BSOD comes onto the screen. Nothing I press gets me out of it and the only way to exit is to manually shut off my computer. Please help, thanks.

Have you tried any other scanners? If adaware is causing problems I'd stop using it for now.
Here are some links to other scanners..

both online and downloadable.

I agree with Fink, you should always use more than 1 AV and more than 1 AntiSpy/Adware
If you continue to experience problems, you should update the software and then restart. You need to boot into safe mode by pressing F8 when booting. You will be presented with a list... Choose "Safe Mode" specifically
Try scanning from there and this should clean it right up!

reddyjs.. once you've done a few scans with a combination of a/v and spyware scanners (and they find and eliminate any malware) try adaware again. It's possible that some sort of infection is interfering with it. There is also a small program made until last year by adaware/Lavasoft that allows it to scan under those circumstances. If you like I'll post it as an attachment so you could try it (courtesy of lgpop who told me about it).
