    MB's in IE6

I am curious. After I upgraded from IE5.5 to IE6, when I run WindowWasher, it is deleting Mb's of files (8-13) as opposed to Kb's when I was running IE5.5. I have Cookie Pal and don't accept cookies unless I have to. So where are all these files coming from? ie. what is the difference in IE?

How many temporary internet files you accumulate depends on the size you've set your cache (and how much you surf the net). In Internet Explorer, click Tools | Internet Options... | General tab (if not already selected). Click the Settings button under Temporary Internet files. In the Temporary Internet files folder section, you can either use the slider, or type in a number, to adjust the Amount of disk space to use:. (On this machine mine is currently set to 25 MB).

Thanks SpywareDr., I just now did as you suggested (it was set at 97Mb - missed that one when I was configuring internet options) but considering that I had before checked the box to empty temporary internet files when browser is closed, and I run Window Washer after it is closed, I'm not convinced that it will make a difference. I'll see after this online session, and report back.

    You're welcome.

Keep in mind that Window Washer cleans more than just the Temporary Internet Files Folder (Cache). It can also be set to clean the Address Bar History, Cookies,
History (Visited Sites), AutoComplete Form Data, Downloaded Folder Memory, Media Bar (Media Player) History, Setup Log File and Index.dat files (Wash with Bleach on Windows Startup).

Also, Internet Explorer version 6 may store more information than it did in earlier versions.

    Hello again SpywareDr.,
I think indeed, as you suggested "...Internet Explorer version 6 may store more information than it did in earlier versions." All the other stuff you iterated that Window Washer cleans would have remained a constant regardless of browser. So, still curious as to what purpose storing more information may serve, and whose purpose. Hmmm. Thanks again. It's on the back burner.
