    Rootkits

Well, I can't seem to find any good free programs to deal with these things. I've tried RootkitRevealer, but I'm pretty sure most of the things its detecting aren't actually rootkits. Its found a bunch of stuff in my temp files, which get cleared regularly, so even if there are some there, its no worry. It also found one in Norton (which is actually a rootkit, if I'm not mistaken), two in Spybot, one in an Ewido registry entry, one in a Microsoft registry entry, and a whole bunch in Firefox profiles.
So I guess what I'm asking for here, amidst my long-winded ramblings, are reccomendations for good free rootkit detectors. Thanks for any help

RootkitRevealer and Blacklight are the two common ones. IceSword is another.

As for removal, that's easy: format. Manual removal is incredibly difficult and risky, simply because you can't trust a thing your system is telling you.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

Ah, I was afraid of that. Formating is no fun. But, it seems I have no rootkits, so there's no need for that.

Thanks for the help, both of you
