New (older model) video card purchase help
Hey all,
I'm looking at purchasing a newer video card than the one I have. I currently have an ATI Radeon 9200SE. I play some games, particularly America's Army, and the game runs fine with that card but I know it could be a lot better. So I want to know which of the two following cards will give me the best bang for the buck. My mobo supports AGP 8x. It's an Asus A7V8X-X mobo. Here are the two cards I'm considering:
JetWay Radeon 9800PRO 128 MB 256-bit DDR
eVGA GeForce 6600GT 128 MB 128-bit GDDR3
Let me know what you think.

Ditto
I've had an eVGA 6600GT for a few months now, it runs fine and the price is right. I used to have a Geforce FX5700 Ultra and the 6600GT is about 4 times faster.

Thanks for all of your help guys. I really appreciate it. I've purchased the 6600GT. Now I'm just greedily waiting... =)
On a similar note, I want to buy a cheap card for one of my daughter's PC's that is similar to, but a little better than my 9200SE that I'm replacing with the new 6600GT. I'm trying to decide between these two cards:
Sapphire Radeon 9550 256 MB 128-bit DDR
XFX Geforce FX5200 128 MB 128-bit DDR
The Radeon card has twice the memory and it looks like everything else is the same. So I believe the Radeon is the way to go. I'm only looking at this because there is a $15 rebate. Let me know what you think between these two cards. Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't base your decision on memory on lower-end cards.
And i would stay away from the 5200, worst of the Nvidia range.
I would bump those up a little as the ATI 9600 is a lot better than the 9550, and the 5500 (Which i have now) is a lot better than the 5200, little bit more expensive, but worth it IMO, 5500's are here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Subcategory=48

I have both, the 6600GT in this and the 5700U in my other system. Your right!
The 6600gt is a good card for the money.
