upgrading from 98se

I recently aquired a hp pavillion6740c that I would like to upgrade to xp home for my daughter so she will have her own computer . When I went to the product page on the HP site "http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?lc=en&lang=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=61009&"
I noticed that it says that this product is not upgradable to windows xp. I tried a search to see if I could find the reason but was unable to come up with any other information on the subject.
Does anyone know the reason that this computer supposedly will not upgrade to XP? It is maxed out with 500mg's ram and the celeron processor is plenty pwerfull enough to do so, leaving me at a loss to understand why the mfg. would say that it is not upgradable.

I could always give it a shot but if it is not doable I would rather spend my energy restoring the original 98se system to it's pristeen condition than be on a fools mission for hours.
