burn mpg files on a dvd disk with a menu

    Hi All

My dvd player supports mpg files. But, if I burn it like files then I have to skip file by file to reach the desired file. I want to burn the mpg file with a menu. But, if I use the menu feature of any burning software, it checks compatibility and tried to convert the mpg into a vob file, which is not what I want.

It is easy to build a menu when burning on a cd but I want it to do on a dvd disk. Is there any - any software which supports this feature. I tried quite a few but all tries to look for compatability.

    thanks!

I'm not sure if it's you or me that's confused... but I'll try to explain what I know. .vob files are very similar to .mpg files. You don't lose any information by converting. In addition, every DVD-Video player will play spec DVDs, (which must be encoded with .vob's) What are you trying to accomplish by using .mpg files on the disc?
If you want menus, you have to use the standard .vob format unless your particular DVD player supports some fringe file structure.

Nobody's confused. I have a strong reason for opting mpg file. It's custom mpg at my choice of video bitrate and audio. Its v small in size compared to vob but quality of video is still good. If I envelop it in vob then again it gets bloated and takes too much space on the dvd disk.

What I want is a menu with mpg files on dvd disk which is v easy to do on cd disk.
