We were given a demo yesterday
And I'm hating this new Vista system already. Also Office 12/2007. I just wonder if non-tech industries will warm up to it?
We were told that there were 7 levels of the product, so I assume there's a home edition, very basic? Because what they demonstrated to us yesterday was overkill.
I want my XP!!

It's certainly going to take some getting used to, especially the changes in Office 12, that's for sure. But once we get used to it I think we may all be grateful for the changes in the UI. MS have done a lot of research into this, and there's no doubt that as more and more features have been added, so it's become very difficult to find what you want. These changes should help a lot with that.
Personally I'm looking forward to the new UIs, the Win95 way of doing things wasn't very good to start with, and it hasn't improved with age IMO.

I work for a college and I don't think they will be ready for this for at least 2-3 years. They just upgraded to Xp/ Off2003 in the fall 05. Now, for me personally, I have a question: I'm happy with XP -it's stable, I haven't been hit by viruses or shut down by spyware. Should I continue with XP for as long as possible, or should I start upgrading my system to 64bit/2mbRAM, etc. etc. How long do you think I can hold off?

I'd suggest upgrading when the pc/os you're using won't do what you need it to do.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

XP Home and MCE will be fully supported (security patches etc) until 2 years after Vista comes out. Pro and Tablet PC will get patches for another 5 years after that.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

We still have folks who are quite happy using Windows 98SE....as Tuttle alluded to, XP will be around for quite awhile. I wouldn't sweat it.
...and as SRJ said, the only reason to really change is if the OS no longer does what you need it to do. That's why I will be making the switch to Vista as soon as I can....you need it to play Halo 2 for the PC. That's the only good reason I have. Yes....I know.....I'm pathetic. I'll be earning the money for it at home this summer by selling that "How To Make Money At Home" program I saw advertised in that email I got today.
