    Sp2

I installed sp2 before and had to remove it because of this problem. It started with just a few url's and spread to more and finally I couldn't get on the internet at all.

I just installed it again and when I try to get some url's it tries to get this url also and freezes IE. In the task bar at the bottom I get:
"a bad url http://view.atdmt.com/ave/iview" and several more additions.

Why does it search for this url and how do I get rid of it? I tried a search of files but found nothing.

    Windows XP Home
    IE6, SP1

atdmt.com looks like an online advertising company so I'd extrapolate that to assume you may have been stung with some kind of adware.

Have a look through this thread...

    http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...d.php?t=167915

and do all of the things it suggests then copy the Hijackthis log into this thread and then we'll move it to the Hijack forum where one of our experts can have a look at it and advise further.

Installing SP2 onto a compromised system has been known to exacerbate the problem.

It's not recommended to install SP2 on a contaminated system; follow the instructions in this forum and post a log if you need help with it. Once cleaned out, do the SP2 install. It solves a lot more problems than it causes.

EDIT: fink types faster than I do!

For your information, I did not install sp2 on a contaminated system. I ran AdAware and SpyBot S&D before I installed sp2. I also ran Housecall a couple days ago.
I installed sp2 from a CD from Microsoft and as I said when I uninstalled sp2 before everything ran perfect. I also ran AdAware and Spybot after I installed. I have just finished running ewido and it found nothing. Will go ahead with the other steps.

    Thanks

Is there anything in this log that should be removed?

After scanning with all the scans recommended and then some, with all showing no bugs, I went into the registry and deleted all entries of atdmt.com. Problem solved.

I thought the registry was scanned along with the files but evidently not.

If you would, I still would like for someone to look at the HiJackThis log to see what all else needs to be removed.

    Thanks a lot.

Actually, your HJT log looks pretty clean. As long as you're running okay I wouldn't worry about anything else.
