    looking to get some new games

    Hi all! I'm looking to get some new games for my computer. I'm into all genres except for sports. I could use some recommendations for games that would play well on my current system. It dosen't matter if the games are a few years old, just as long as they're entertaining and have decent graphics. BTW, I'm not upgrading my graphics card for a while, so i'm looking for games that will play well on my current one. Thanks in advance!

    Well, i have the same graphics card at the moment, and i got Call of Duty 2 free when i had to RMA my X700 twice, and that plays well, i completed it in about 6 days on Easy, but i might run through it again on a harder difficulty, the graphics were surprisingly cool, and my 5500 didn't break a sweat on medium, i didn't wanna tempt overload and push it, that gets a big thumbs up from me, and also Half Life 1, with all of the add-ons through steam is cool, i didn't bother with HL2, but i'd imagine it's good, and better, you may wanna try both, HL1 can probably be picked up for less than $20 now, as i got it about a year ago for £10 ish, and GTA, the series really, including SA recently released.

    I'll post back if i think of some more.

    ^ can't help but second that, very good game! and i once had to play it with a 5200FX!! wow was i amazed that it actually worked and gfx wise was playable. unfortunately my viewing distance was only about 80% so i kept getting shot by people i couldn't even see . but a 5500 will allow 100% view distance and that’s all you need to enjoy the game. also i borrowed COD2 of my mate and as liam said it's a very good game. i have played it over LAN as well which is excellent so i can only imagine online is also good. and my mate has that very same 5200FX i mentioned and you will be amazed at how good the gfx are with that. i can run it on max and i can tell you there is not as big a difference as you would think.
    i am also into quite a few strategy games. most of them will play fine on lower end gfx cards, well maybe apart form age of empires 3 but i think that should be fine with a 5600 anyway. also Rome: total war is very good. one piece of advise i will give you is if you have a broadband connection you should download game demos to see if you like them and how they run. most games have them and it should save you some money. hers a few good ones ;

    P.S. Liam what website you get your free game from? i have had 3 6600GT RMA's from Ebuyer and the site won't let me get a refund, just a replacement. as you can see i don't want a replacement anymore so i will try to get a refund or something free as well . either that or I’ll have an unopened 6600GT going spare. you look like you need an upgrade ! lol

    Ok, cool! I'll look into COD2 & Battlefield 2. I didn't think my GFX card could handle them. I already own Half Life and the entire GTA series. Are there any good RPG's out now that don't require a subscription fee? I used to like Diablo 2, but it is pretty dated now.

    Hi I Bought some from Ebay and found that they were backup copies, the price was too good too pass up. Unfortunately they were sent to me from th UK and the copies were made on R2 discs and they would not play on my computer DVD reader. Be careful of those. But there are some games on ebay that are good and sometimes they are a package of as many as 10 games. Good Luck M

    If you're looking for good MMORPGs, www.onrpg.com has a huge list. I'd reccomend GunZ Online (if you can get the torrented download to work with any speed) and Kal Online from personal experience, both very enjoyable games if you can ignore some of the hackers. Also, you can always check out some free servers for normally paid games, because for some games, they're actually legal. For example, I know that Ragnarok Online servers are legal in some cases (I forget the actual reason why, all I know is that I'm playing a free legal one right now).
