New Hdd and current Hdd
I will be building a new rig during the next few days...case arrived today..put in new m/b. Cpu, psu, vid card, ram, hdd, will be here maybe tomorrow...will do a clean install of XP Pro ( have full version cd.), on new hdd set up in sata config., ...had not planned on hooking up current hdd since it is an IDE hdd...but can you have both?? I had thought about keeping this current 'puter set up and after my new system is up & running & everything is okay...then to format & partition this current hdd and use it for the back-up storage device. I will probably add another sata compatible hdd later...after I recover from "checking account shock !!" Any & all suggestions, advice, is welcome!!

Yes, it's no problem having a PATA and SATA drive installed together. All you need to do is set the BIOS to boot from the SATA drive first.
