Internet Explorer closes on certain programs...

Running win98, ie 6.0.2800.1106 with Google as my homepage. When I open certain websites (virtualdr.com for example), I get the standard error message that the window needs to close and asks if I want to send the report or not. Once I say no, the window closes a new window with google opens up. This also happens on msn.com. I am able to use Mozilla, but would like IE working, also. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

    Try repairing IE first:
Open add/remove programs and highlight Internet explorer.
This should give one option of repairing IE.

If that does not clear things up, you may have to do an overinstall of IE.
This happened to me once but can't remember how I got over it but I think it was playing with IE loading or settings.
    Good luck.

I was looking to repair it, but forgot how. Sometimes you just go blank. I'll try this and post back. Thanks!

When I went to add/remove and chose internet explorer, the choice was to revert back to a previous version. I did that. I am now able to go to virtualdr.com, but ie still closes on msn.com (among others). Does anyone know if there's some kind of special popup or process that happens on that website? I'm really stumped here. Thanks.

It is a stumper. I did not know what version of IE you were running that did not have a repair option or install component on it.
    Anyway, now reinstall IE6 w/Sp1.
After, or before, run all the standard protectors: Virus scanner (personal and online version like housecall, Adaware, Spybot, CWShredder, etc.
    Get back with results.

I have WinSE and IE6, same problem and also does it with some web sites. It gets worse if I don't correct it. I reinstall IE6 and it helps for a while then goes back to the same problem. Yesterday it wouldn't even recognise my home page (msn). I loged in on outlet express first and then I went to IE and browsed all my sites fine. I've tried turning off the firewall which did not help, but the above are 2 of the things that did a temporary fix for me. Good Luck
