Problem with .wvx file playback
A friend sent this .wvx file to me and I could not opened it in Realplayer 10.0 or Windows Media player 10.0. I got this "C00D119D: Cannot play this file." Error message.
I went into WMP tools, and the selected ALL FILE types were enabled.

C00D119D: Cannot play this file
Windows Media Player cannot play this file because the associated Windows Media metafile playlist is not valid.
A metafile is a file that contains information about other files. A Windows Media metafile playlist, a file with an .asx, .wax, .wmx, or .wvx extension, can be used to instruct the Player to play a group of digital media files in a specific order. Metafiles are usually created by a content provider, such as an Internet radio station.
Also
Windows Media metafiles, commonly known as playlists, are text files that link Web pages to Windows Media–based content on a Windows Media server or Web server. The purpose of a metafile is to redirect streaming media content away from browsers, which in most cases are not capable of rendering the content, to Microsoft® Windows Media Player. Windows Media metafiles have a .wvx, .wax, or .asx extension. When a browser downloads a file with one of these extensions from a Web site, the browser opens Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player then locates and plays the content specified in the file.
What size is this file ?
It may just be a metafile, ie a text file that points to files to be played , and not actually a playable file in the sense of a mp3 or a wav file is a playable file containing actual music.
If its just a list pointing to files to be played, are these files accessible to you ?
Ie if it points to files on the internet you might be able to play them if they have not been moved, or you are not required to log into or surf from a specific website, but if the "playlist" points to files on your friends computer then you would not be able to play them..
Try opening the file in notepad and see if the file is just a list of files and/or locations ..

There is no such thing as overkill. 'Open fire' and 'is it dead?' are the only sane options when threatened.
