Resolved [RESOLVED] computer not reading audio driver

ok im having a big problem. When i went to go plug in my mic into the back of my computer i guess i pushed to hard and my audio card went into my computer. So, i had to take the case off and fix the audio card which was not in the slot it suppose to be in. I pushed it back in and i put the case on and all and started up my computer and then i clicked on ventrilo. but it says that my directsound failed. and my computer isnt reading that i have a audio driver. (i have a seperate chip from my motherboard) its a envy24 audio chip. Can someone PLEASE help me? maybe i didnt push the chip in right? or maybe i have to download something? i dont know to be honest. All i know is it saying that i dont have any audio

If the computer was on when the card came loose, then i would try uninstalling the card from Device Manager and reboot.

In addition, try the sound card in a different slot.
If no luck, then it may be bad.

If you're saying that your MB has an onboard sound adapter in addition to the sound card, and doing the above did not restore the sound, then remove the sound card from Device Manager, click OK, shut down the computer(do not restart if prompted to do so), disconnect the main power cable, remove the sound card, and restart.
If there's still no sound, then go into BIOS, and look for a setting to enable the onboard sound adapter.
If there's no BIOS setting to do this, then check either the computer's or MB's documentation for repositioning a MB jumper to enable onboard sound.

What did you do to get it working again? there may be a different route that will get it working straight away. Microsoft recommends a driver update fro Code 10 errors, nt sure if that will help though.

i did the update nothing happened. I went to add hardwares in control panel and installed both drivers. The other one that i did not mention is the VIA AC'97 audio controller. Which when i installed the software on the disc it didnt work when it should of so i had to do the add hardware thing. Everything is up to date and its just not working. Usually i can go to Sounds, speech, and audio devices and under Sounds, Audio, and Voice tabs there are options to which driver i want to use but it doesnt even do that. its just nothing

Trying to make heads and tails about the current status of your system:

-What is the make and model of your MB?

-Is the sound card(the one that came out of the slot when you attempted to connect a mic) removed from Device Manager, and also removed from the MB slot?

-Is the sound adapter(VIA AC'97) that's built into the MB listed in Device Manager? If it is, then are any problems showing for it in Dev. Mgr.?
