Problems with Motorola Phone Tools Software

I am not able to successfully install Phone Tools software for Model V551 cell phone to my computer. I have XP OS. Has anyone had experience with this problem? The version software I am using for the Phone Tools is v. 3.0.

Perhaps you could describe the actual error you are getting ?

Does it install but not connect to the phone , does it refuse to install , does it throw up an error message, does it simply not respond ?

It does install but when I click on the mobile phone tools icon, I get the "choose a profile" window - I already selected it and it's listed in the window. When I click "OK", I get the "Welcome to the setup wizard" window - when I click "cancel", I get a window that gives me this msg: "Mobile phone tools will not function correctly without a mobile device installed". I click no and get the cell phone image on my desktop. At this point, I click on the icon for the program again and it brings a phone replica image of a cell phone on the desktop - for an instant, all the icons on the phone flash, then all gray except the email icon. It isn't allowing the function of all the capabilities such as transferring pics from the phone (which is one of the reasons I purchased the USB cable). Could it be the hardware (cable) connection? I I know there is a newer version of the software (v. 4.0) but I don't want to jump to that - the v. 3.0 came with the cable.

I am new to this page but greatly admire your work. I am having trouble with my Motorola Phone tools software. I have the V300, I bought the software and have actualized it to the most newest version, I think its 3.00. So i try to upload images from the v300 to my PC but a message saying "operation interrupted by phone" comes up. This is weird since I can load images from my pc to the phone but not from the phone to my pc. Please help me, anyone. I NEED A DOCTOR!!
