I am seeing a lot of the same problems here. I also recently connected to sattilite ISP service as well (wild Blue) I orginally was using a wireless router , switched that , removed sat service booster, I find that with 4 pc's running 2 xp 2 win 98 that it leaves at least 1 of the 98 machines that wont connect to the orginal machine where I installed the sat service from, although I can go from the 1 98 machine to the orginall install. I have configured every which way possible . Except flashing back the install machine for the sat machine which is what I am going to try next

I can ping from any machine to any other but cant connect for file sharing, have tried redoing the work group on the macines using the wizard from xp. Personally I feel that the sat install installed some where something that limits acess to more than 3 machines + the router.
I would be interested who is your ISP? if I come up with a fool proof way of getting mine I will post back. I have acess to www on all the machines
everytime I try something just file sharing shut down to the orginall installed machine from 1 of the 98 machines

This is from the win 98 machine that wouldnt connect to the install (wild Blue) xp machine. Working now both ways where as before it would connect for file sharing ect from the xp machine to this 98 but not from 98 to the xp. Changed fire wall settings and routers several times I did remove net bui&ipx from the 98 machine but they are running on another 98 machine where they was enabled that never did have any problem connecting to the install xp machine will send the ipconfig from the install xp machine in seperate message. Perhaps it will help E Cross in helping you

This is from the XP install of (wild Blue ) machine. You can see that I have 2 nics here but have tried it before with 1 no differences. This xp machine also had a Linksys Wireless router installed on it at the time of the wild blue install but was removed and replaced with a wired router trying to get the LAN to work correctly Hope some of this may be of help to you in getting yours to work
My LAN/WAN seems to be working correctly at this time

What is the make and model of the router? How does that connect to a dsl/cable modem?

The Windows 98 machine has IP routing enabled which typically happens when ICS is enabled. You normally don't need ICS with a broadband router. Go ahead and disable ICS on that computer. In addition, try disabling one network connection on the XP machine. Then report back the ipconfig results.

ecross my current router is a airnet AER014, connnected by ethernet cat 5
I didnt mention but my 4 pc's are also conected with a switch , which in trying different things I did try just connecting straight to the router made no difference. ICS is disabled. I have tried it with only 1 nick made no difference . It is working well with all 4 machines right now so not going to change anything for the time being . I think when the modem resets it will probably go back to where at least one machine wont connect to the wild blue xp installed mkachine, If it holds connection for several days I will probably add the wirless router back into the LAN to see if that may cause some problems . I live in remote area and Wild Blue is becoming real popular here as a sattlite service, Working on customers machines I need to find all the answers to problems the install causes. Had a machine today that would connnect to company site without the provided enhancer that comes with the service but as soon as installed the enhancer it wouldnt connect to the company web site where security was involved. The enhancer rasied the upload speed from Like 27 to 105 but wouldnt connect then so had to remove it. I am running the enhancer on my setup now and so far havent had any problems
