doctor. doctor please help! NTLDR is missing after.....
I'm trying to do a clean install on a HP 511c 1400 ghz and 512 ram on a 40 gb hdd formatted by PM to fat 32 PC,
with WXP Pro SP2,
I've changed the BIOS boot setting to boot first to CD, second Hdd third, floppy,
when I start the rig up with the WXP disk in rom drive, it boot right away to WXP set up,
it start inspecting the computer and loading the setup files,
after that, it loads the system files,
after it finishes loading, the pc will restart in 1 min progress bar thing start and then it reboot,
all this is going on without a glitch!
Now it reboot (with the wxp cd is still in the bay) the flag to boot from CD press any key....thing appear,
of course at this point I do nothing,
but just after that, the next flag I get is NTLDR is missing,
instead of the WXP is starting and the normal loading of XP.
I've tried to install WXP on 3 other Hdd with the same result,
NTLDR is missing problem,
for crying out laud what is going on here, I've installed WXP on dozens and dozens of PC's including this one and others HP machines as well and I never has this kind of a "pestering" problem before.
What can be done to resolve this

After a more careful checking, I found out that the Hdd partition boot ini was somehow corrupted, so I used the old faithful W98 boot disk and reformatted the drive.
It was then the I was able to install WXP Pro successfully

You should have been able to boot from the XP CD and do the same thing.
