How to re-establish picture autoplay handler
I've got a client that was using the default Fax and Picture Viewer application for whenever she inserted a camera memory card into her computer. Then she installed Adobe Elements 4, and Elements overrode the default autoplay handler for picture files. I have been able to re-associate the JPG extension to use Fax and Picture Viewer, but it no longer appears in the list of available handlers.
I know that TweakUI allows one to add handlers, and that the Fax and Picture Viewer code resides in shimgvw.dll, but I can't get TweakUI to accept this for the program that's supposed to be run when I try to create the new handler. I browse to the dll file in windows/system32 and select it, but clicking Open doesn't return it to the setup dialog -- Explorer.exe remains.
Is there a different program that's supposed to be invoked with shimgvw passed as an argument? What should the execution line look like?
If it requires futzing in the Registry, that's not a problem, but what needs to be added?

prouton, Go to the link below and under the letter "P" scroll down to "Enable Picture and Fax Viewer" where you'll find a possible fix.

Thanks for the suggestion.
Even with WinXP reporting that the registration/install worked, Fax and Picture viewer still doesn't appear in the list of possible picture handlers.
Anyone else?

prouton--When you say you "it no longer appears in the list of available handlers", I assume you mean the Open With|Choose Program list.
That window has a Browse button which should allow you to add programs to the list. For Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, I believe you would Browse to C:\System32\shimgvw.dll.
