    Windows Vienna to follow Vista

    Windows Vienna to follow Vista

"That's right folks. Windows Vienna is the new codename for Windows Blackcomb the successor to Windows Vista."

    Now we need interim codenames?

Hey, Microsoft, I don't suppose there's any chance we could dump the Vista name on the Blackcomb/Vienna project and go back to Longhorn is there?

So does that imply vista will be a stop gap until vienna comes out.

Sort of like Millenium Edition was ?

Maybe. Who knows...All large companies are always thinking ahead to the future....

As far as product names go.....I was at a seminar in Redmond and the product name issue came up. As I recall, the names come off a map of Washington State. They started at one point and are working their way up....

It's always a difficult decision, but the way that I look at it is that there is always something new just around the corner when it comes to computers. If you wait for the next thing to come out all the time, then you end up waiting forever.

The earliest you're likely to see Vista is December, and it could be next year even. Though you'll be able to get hold of the public beta in the not too far distant future.

You can download it now IF you are a MSDN/Technet subscriber, it is not freely available the subscription services for those two are a few hundred £/$ per year.....and the Vista Beta comes as part of that.

....or maybe Krupp. Then if the OS doesn't work out well, we can write a review with the title: Krupp is Krap!
