XP file sharing and NTFS
We've got 3 XP Pro machines on our network. Two are Fat32 while the other is NTFS.
The 2 Fat32 machines allow remote access of program folders for the purpose of data backup, the NTFS machine doesn't.
Is there anything I can do to be able to remotely access the program folders of the NTFS machine?

With folders on NTFS volumes you have to explicitly make the folders shared. Right-click on the folder, and choose Sharing and Security. Then in the Sharing tab, select "Share this folder", and click on the "Permissions" button to choose what access you want to give and to whom.

Thanks SS, on my NTFS machine at home I can do your suggestion to my "Program Files" folder but not on the NTFS machine at work. On the work machine everything is grayed out on the sharing window and there's no "permissions" button.
The main problem is when trying, from my work machine, to open "C:/Program files" on the remote work NTFS machine it gives me a "no access, no permissions" type of error.
That prevented me from setting up our sync program as I need to be able to navigate directly to the data folder but can't get into the "Programs Files" folder.
I don't want to put a lot of time in this. I was able to share out the specific program folder that contains the data folder to be backed up and it shows up in "Network Places" on my remote work machine.
The "old" sync program doesn't work with that but a "new" sync program does.
I'm gonn'a let it go at that.
