    Trouble with Adaware freeze & google re-direct

    Hi there people, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    I had a problem with Explorer being unable to load certain websites a cuppla weeks ago but by running every virus scan and spyware scan I could find, I thought I had removed it.

    However, I still have 2 issues which lead me to believe I still have an as yet undetermined infection of some kind. These issues are;

    1) Random websites now re-direct me to google search pages with pre-determined search results. These are usually porn related, but not always.

    2) Adaware freezes at the same point of it's scan, soon after finding one problem in the registry. It stops (and then the windows task manager shows it as 'not responding') at the same point of every scan, which is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/. .

    I've re-installed the latest adaware but it still does it in the exast same spot.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You could try using a different malware scanner. The Microsoft AntiSpyware for WindowsXP is surprisingly good. Also Spybot is easy to recommend if you're using a different OS.

    If these don't work, it's time for a hijack this scan. Good luck.

    I've ran spybot numerous times. I'll post my HJT log in the appropriate forum...

    Cheers
