Missing admin password
Hello
I am a teacher and the one before me let the kids choose passwords. We figured most of them out but not the admin password for one computer. We can't install any anti-malware programs etc. What can we do to get the password, or clear it?
Thanks
Alisha

You must reinstall. Depending on what service pack/windows version you're using, there may be workarounds, but these are security holes, and patched immediately. Also, the vDr policy prohibits us from offering help circumventing password protection. As a temporary fix, if one of the other accounts has administrator privleges, you can perform almost all the functions you would need. Is the computer on a domain?
The teacher let the kids choose ADMIN passwords!?!?!?
Good luck!

I think so. She told me all the passwords she could think of. She was the type that didn't really control things. Anyway I don't even have the CDs. Things were very unorganized before I got here. It's a one room school so I have no one to ask. I guess we can't really do anything about it.

Well the good news is that educational copies of Microsoft Software are cheap, if you need to purchase another license and CD. One room school? I thought those were eliminated in the 1900's!
Good luck and I hope you can find the CD.

Thanks. We'll probably buy one when the budget allows.
