Home Page Opens When Logging On

I scanned thru but did not see an answer to this problem. On my home computer when I log on it automatically opens to my home page. I hate this. I may not want to go online as soon as I turn the computer on. I have looked in both Yahoo and Win XP trying to find how to disable this and I cannot find it. It started happening after a new update a couple months ago. Run the same OS on the laptop, but it brings up the desktop when I long on there. Any suggestions to make this stop? We have WinXP and DSL. I am sure I have overlooked it somewhere, but cannot find how tomake it stop doing this. Very annoying. Thanks for any suggestions.

I do not see anywhere that it is checked. I compared it to my laptop and it all looks the same.

What is the home page that pops up?
I take it that it is your normal home page and you haven't been hijacked?
If it isn't the norm, then You might want to scan with your updated virus program, and also for malware using spybotS&D, Ad-Aware, etal.
What sounds like just a setting has gone awry may be something else.
Should you need to, you might check this out:

Yes it is my normal home page of yahoo. We do scan update etc and nothing shows. We run the same programs on our laptop and it does not do that. Just annoying. Thanks for the help.

pennydog I can't help but think you are right about missing a 'checkbox' or similar somewhere, but I'm in the dark myself on that. Someone with more knowledge will come along and post another possible solution...
