Is it possible to convert a wireless router into a wireless bridge?
Hi,
I have an extra linksys wireless B router that I got in a computer deal. I want to use it to connect my xbox wirelessly to my network. I understand that there are wireless bridges which do this but they cost over $50 and I don't want to spend this money. Is it possible to convert my router into a bridge? Thx.

Hello reddyjs,
I don't think you can do that with that router. However, if you are looking at wireless connection, there is a XBox wireless adapter but that is also over $50. You might want to consider an alternative solution and connect your XBox to one of the router's LAN port on the back using a wired connection.

Thank you for replying. I know about the xbox wireless adaptor but would like to avoid paying $50 for it. I understand about the wired connection but I want to make it wireless.

What you want almost certainly won't be possible. Those boxes are basically a NAT router, wireless access point and switch wedged into the one case. Wireless bridging functionality isn't part of what they need to do.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.
