[RESOLVED] does not store add'y & password
I have XP Pro,MSN, IE6, cable modem. Recently this has been happening: when I fire up the "puter and click the Explorer icon to get online I am taken to the MSN sign in page and I have to sign in. I click the button to save my add'y & password but it doesn't save the info., and I have to sign in every time. I have poked around in the firewall ( the XP pro firewall) settings and looked in the internet settings areas and haven't seen anything that specifically relates to this situation. I have tried re-setting my home page hoping that that would somehow re-set the info...but no luck. I have looked under Control Panel and examined the other areas that might relate to these setting but haven't seen anything that jumps out at me. Am I missing something that's right in front of me? I e-mailed MSN but haven't heard back yet so I wanted to run this by here. Is there a registry entry that I have accidentally deleted whenever I do some registry cleaning using the tool that is built into the registry cleaner program ( RegCleaner 4.3 by Juoni Vuorio)? I probably did something that caused this change ..it was working just fine until recently.. Oh, btw...I have eTrust AV, Spybot-SD, SpywareBlaster,SpywareGuard, AdAware,AdWareAlert, ...all are up to date and used regularly. Thanks...

Don't know if this will fix your problems, but had a similar experience with 'my msn' and had to delete their cookies and reset my login password, and that fixed it for me.(XP Pro)

stevejr--This could be a cookie problem. Have you blocked MSN from depositing cookies? Look in IE Tools|Internet Options|Privacy tab|Sites. What is the Slider set at? (Medium, High, etc.)?

Welshjim...thanks for the info...my situation is fixed. My security settings were set to custom. I scrolled down to the user authentication area and ticked for auto logon.I think that I started messing with some of the other settings because when I would re-start and click on homepage an msn dialogue box would pop up and say that scripting is usually safe and did I want to continue...and I would click yes...and that box popped up about 4 or 5 more times before the page would finish loading...and then when I tried to x-out of homepage to try and go back to desktop and then go back to homepage...the mouse would disappear...the 'puter hung for about 10-15 seconds...and then re-started. I tried going back into the security settings and adjusting for scripting but couldn't quite clear up that box asking about the scripting...so I just set everything back to default....once again proving that a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing !!! Thanks again..
