[RESOLVED] Change Start Up Program order in XP
Hello All, how do you change the Start up order in XP.
Just that i would like to get online alittle quicker by Norton and Zonealarm being first rather than last.
Thanks, GEP

I don't believe there is any way of influencing it. It seems to be entirely at the whim of Windows, and isn't even consistent from one day to the next

Best bets, Change brands of Antivirus and firewall.
Then disable all you can in msconfig/startup and still be SAFE.

I think you will find (if you could really get behind the scenes) that Norton (and any other AV worth it's salt), and ZA already have components that are being loaded very early in the boot sequence to ensure adequate protection.
The fact that you are seeing the icons appear late in no way indicates that you are vulnerable.

Re:Start up order
Hello All, thanks for your replies, will look into it.
Train: Never had any real problems using Norton and Zonealarm that could not be sorted so far. Only had two or three viruses due to my fault in 6 years using Norton, and Zonealarm's given me less hassle.
I believe their the best two products for any computer, Norton may hog resources alittle, but makes up for it in keeping my computer free from viruses. As well as those listed below.
WhitPhil: No i don't think i was vulnerble, just wanted to quicken windows so as to allow faster internet use, as Norton and Zonealarm will not allow connections till fired up.
Thanks for your replies, GEP
Norton, Zonealarm free, a-squared, scotty dog winpatrol, adaware, spybot, spyblaster, Ccleaner.
