Compatability
To be honest I didnt think you had to get a hard drive that was compatible, but I was reading an ebay listing on a Maxtor Maxline Hard Drive Disk, The guy stated he was selling it because his desktop was not SATA compatable?
Ok so my question is how do I find out if My desktop pc is SATA compatable or better still what HDD are compatable with it?
I have an EMachines 220 UK Purchased. OS is XP Home, 636RAM
TIA

To be able to use a SATA drive you will need a pci to sata controller card.

The best way of being certain is to go into the BIOS Setup and look under "Integrated peripherals" or similar. If you have an SATA controller listed there, then you'll be able to use that drive. If not, you'll have to buy a PCI card to use it:
