Error Burning DVD+RW
I am trying to backup my data after a disastrous crash with my other computer. I have the HP dvd740e DVD multi-format burner. I have been trying to burn a TDK DVD+RW disc at it's limit 4x. The HP drive can burn any format disc, and it can burn +RW at 6x. It came with Nero 6 which I am using fine, but not with these +RW discs. I tried another TDK disc and after about 2 minutes of burning, it always stops around the same time and says "Error Reading Data, Generating DVD High Compatability Borders, Burn Process failed at 4x (5,540 KB/s)." Nero is not letting me try to burn at a slower rate, I am not using the computer and have shut down all other programs during burning, and I unfortunately do not have any other RW type DVDs to try. The drive works since I have made DVD-R discs already with the Nero software. I am using XP Home SP2 with all updates, have cleaned with Ad-aware, Spybot, and Spyware blaster, virus scanned with AVG and Trendmicro (all of these with latest updates). Please help!

have you tried burning with another program? open my computer from your desktop and open your disc drive folder. with your dvd-rw in the drive drag and drop some files into the drive window click on file then burn. this is windows cd/dvd burner. if this works then you can assume that your problem is with nero. if it doesnt then your drive may be faulty. cant offer you a solution but at least this will narrow the problem down
